Development of decentralized (rural) training complexes for FM.
Re-engineering PHC via community oriented primary care in collaboration with the University of Pretoria.
Emergency medicine outreach to all districts in KZN.
Ongoing support for the master trainer ESMOE programme.
Creation of a forum for support for family physicians including district family physicians.
Strengthening UG training through exposure to PHC and community based care. Our 4th and 5th year students are placed at PHC sites in the province. In addition we have included aspects of clinical governance in our UG programmes and students have to do a COPC project over 3 years.
Development of a national diploma in family medicine designed to equip medical officers and GPs with skills to work in the NHI. This is already at an advanced stage and will kick off in 2016.
Development of a clinical governance outreach programme to support FP and clinical managers working in the DOH.
Operational research to improve clinical and professional outcomes in the public sector.
